About
Rockrose (Cistus) leaf/stem hydrosol — a gentle aromatic water from labdanum distillation. Mild, but still carries trace fragrance allergens.
Cistus ladaniferus leaf/stem water is the aqueous distillate (hydrosol) produced during essential-oil or resin distillation of Mediterranean rockrose. Much milder than labdanum resin itself, it still carries trace concentrations of the parent plant's fragrance chemistry, including small amounts of compounds that can contribute to EU-declared allergen totals at formulation scale. EU CosIng lists the material without restrictions. Independent dermal-toxicology data specific to the hydrosol are limited.
Skin benefits
- Aromatic hydrosol with mild astringent feel
- Polyphenol traces from labdanum plant
- Gentler than labdanum resin itself
Known concerns
- Trace fragrance allergens from the parent plant
- Hydrosol chemistry variable between batches
