Upcycled peel fiber from multiple citrus species (including bergamot). Natural texturizer; bergamot furocoumarins are a minor photosensitivity concern.
This ingredient is a blend of peel fiber from lime (Aurantifolia), bergamot (Bergamia), lemon (Limon), mandarin (Reticulata), and orange (Sinensis). As a food-industry byproduct it is composed largely of pectin and cellulose fibers with residual flavonoids, essential oil traces, and peel polysaccharides. Used as a natural thickener/texturizer and for a mild exfoliation effect. The main species-level concern is bergamot peel, which naturally contains bergapten (5-methoxypsoralen), a furocoumarin phototoxin — responsible bergamot-containing cosmetics use furocoumarin-depleted (FCF) material or limit concentrations per IFRA. Citrus allergy (and residual limonene, a known fragrance allergen) also apply. Typical use 0.1-2% in natural/organic positioning products.

Known concerns
- Bergamot (bergamia) peel typically carries photosensitizing furocoumarins (bergapten) — citrus blend may include this
- Citrus allergy risk
- Variable composition — blend of multiple species
- Possible residual essential oil components (limonene) — fragrance allergen
