About
Expressed peel material from Citrus aurantifolia (lime) containing natural furanocoumarins that can cause phototoxicity and skin sensitisation.
Citrus Aurantifolia Peel is derived from lime (Citrus aurantifolia) and contains furanocoumarins such as bergapten and imperatorin. Under EU Annex III (entry II/358), furanocoumarins in cosmetic products require special labelling and concentration restrictions due to well-documented phototoxic and photosensitising potential. The SCCS has evaluated furanocoumarins and concluded they are not safe at unrestricted concentrations in leave-on skin products.
