Derived from EU CosIng regulatory status, PubChem hazard data and published research. How we score.
A citrus-type fragrance acetate ester derived from citronellol, providing fresh lemon and rose-like notes; not restricted in EU cosmetics but may oxidize over time.
Citryl acetate (3,7-dimethyl-2,6-octadien-1-yl acetate) is an acyclic monoterpene acetate structurally related to citronellol, imparting a fresh citrus-rose scent. CosIng shows no regulatory restrictions. Like other geraniol/ citronellol derivatives, it is subject to IFRA guidelines regarding oxidation products (hydroperoxides) that may form on air exposure, requiring antioxidant-stabilized formulations to minimize sensitization risk.
