Cobalt Carbonate is a cobalt salt of carbonic acid. Cobalt and cobalt compounds are classified as Category 2 suspected carcinogens (H351) by inhalation, Category 1 skin sensitizers (H317), and Category 2 reproductive toxicants (H361f) under CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008. The EU REACH regulation identifies cobalt compounds as SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern) due to their carcinogenic and mutagenic properties. The EU Cosmetics Regulation does not permit cobalt compounds in cosmetic products, as confirmed by their absence from any authorized positive list.
