A coconut oil-derived amine oxide surfactant used widely for its foam-boosting and conditioning properties, considered mild at typical use levels.
Cocamine Oxide (Cocoalkyldimethylamine N-oxide) is derived from coconut oil dimethylamine and is one of the most widely used amine oxides in cosmetics. It is listed in EU cosmetics inventory with no restrictions on Annex II or III. It is readily biodegradable and considered low toxicity. At high concentrations (>10%), it may cause mild skin irritation, but at typical cosmetic use levels (1-5%), it is well-tolerated. CAS 61788-90-7.
