About

Copper-stabilized chlorophyll — a natural green colorant used in cosmetics, food and drugs. Safe at approved use levels; can stain.

Copper chlorophyll is chlorophyll in which the central magnesium ion has been replaced with a copper ion, producing a stable green colorant also known as copper chlorophyllin (water-soluble form) or copper chlorophyll complex (oil-soluble). It is FDA-approved for food and drug use at specified levels and is EU-approved (E141). In cosmetics it provides natural-style green coloration and mild antioxidant and deodorant activity. Copper content must be controlled — CIR and food regulators set limits on total copper exposure. Staining potential is moderate; copper-allergic users may react. No GHS hazards at cosmetic concentrations.
