About
Ground artichoke leaf and root — food-grade botanical rich in cynarin polyphenols. Gentle antioxidant conditioner with a clean safety profile.
Cynara scolymus (globe artichoke) leaf and root powder is a food-grade Asteraceae material used in cosmetics as a skin-conditioning and antioxidant agent. It contains cynarin, chlorogenic acid, luteolin glycosides, and inulin-type fructans. No CIR monograph, but decades of food use and peer-reviewed dermatological studies suggest low irritation potential at cosmetic levels. Listed in EU CosIng without restriction. The main caveat is rare contact dermatitis in users with established Asteraceae (daisy-family) sensitisation.
Skin benefits
- Polyphenol antioxidants (cynarin, chlorogenic acid)
- Mild astringent and conditioning effect
- Food-grade plant material
- Well tolerated in topical use
Known concerns
