About
An emulsifying and cleansing agent used in cosmetic formulations, but known to cause skin sensitization in some people.
A fatty acid ester of diethanolamine with a C18:1 (isostearic) chain and approximate molecular formula C20H39NO4. The EU SCCS has raised concerns about DEA compounds due to potential nitrosamine formation; DEA-isostearate is restricted under EU cosmetic regulation Annex II/411. Not recommended for use in leave-on products or applications around the eyes and mucous membranes.
