About
A succinic-acid based emollient ester used for silky slip and pigment dispersion. Generally well tolerated but lacks the deep safety database of mainstream esters.
Decyl succinate (CAS 2530-33-8) is a mono- or diester of succinic acid with decyl alcohol used as an emollient and solvent in cosmetics. It imparts a light, silicone-like glide that makes it popular in foundations, sunscreens, and lotions. Succinate esters as a class show low acute toxicity, no genotoxicity signals, and are readily biodegradable. Comprehensive CIR or SCCS reviews specific to this exact ester are not yet published, so it sits in moderate-evidence territory. No EU restrictions.
