About
Dieldrin — one of the original "dirty dozen" persistent organic pollutants. A banned organochlorine pesticide, not a cosmetic ingredient.
Dieldrin (CAS 60-57-1) is a chlorinated cyclodiene insecticide that was widely used in agriculture and against vector insects in the mid-20th century. It is one of the original "dirty dozen" POPs targeted by the Stockholm Convention (2001) for global elimination. It is a persistent, bioaccumulative fat-soluble toxicant, classified by IARC as Group 2A (probably carcinogenic to humans), and by EU CLP as a Category 2 carcinogen and a Category 1 acute toxicant (H300/H310/H330 — fatal if swallowed, in contact with skin, or inhaled). EU Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 Annex II prohibits it in cosmetic products. No cosmetic use exists.
