About
Di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP, CAS 117-81-7) — a reproductive-toxin plasticizer. Banned in EU cosmetics. Should not be in any modern cosmetic formula.
Diethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP, CAS 117-81-7) is a high-production-volume plasticizer. The EU classifies it as Reproductive Toxicant Category 1B (may damage fertility and the unborn child) and has listed it on Annex II of the Cosmetics Regulation (entry 1355) — explicitly prohibited in cosmetic products. It is a REACH SVHC and is restricted in the US (CPSIA) for children's articles. There is robust animal and epidemiological evidence of endocrine disruption, anti-androgenic effects and developmental toxicity. Any presence in a cosmetic is a formulation or contamination failure.
