Diethylnitrosoamine (N-nitrosodiethylamine, NDEA) is a potent genotoxic carcinogen (H350) and suspected mutagen (H341) that induces tumours in multiple organs in animal studies. It is classified as a Category 1B carcinogen under EU CLP regulation. It is listed in EU REACH Annex XVII restrictions and is absolutely prohibited from cosmetic products, as nitrosamines are formed from secondary amines and nitrosating agents.
