About
A short-chain diester (propanol + adipic acid) used as a light, fast-spreading emollient and solvent for sunscreen filters.
Dipropyl adipate (CAS 106-19-4) is the dipropyl ester of adipic acid, a low-viscosity diester used as a lightweight emollient, sunscreen-filter solubilizer, and viscosity reducer. It provides a dry, silky after-feel similar to short-chain dialkyl adipates broadly used in cosmetics. CIR has reviewed dialkyl adipate esters as safe for use in cosmetics. No CMR or endocrine flags; mild eye irritant per standard testing but well-tolerated on intact skin at typical use levels (1-15%).
