About
Disodium C12-14 Pareth-2 Sulfosuccinate is a cosmetic ingredient used in product formulations. Exercise caution due to limited available safety data.
The pareth (polyoxyethylated alkyl ether) linkage gives this sulfosuccinate superior mildness compared to conventional alkyl sulfates. The very short 2-mol EO chain keeps the ingredient predominantly hydrophobic while still providing water dispersibility. The C12-14 alkyl chain (lauryl/myristyl blend) delivers effective cleansing without the harshness of sulfate surfactants. Similar C12-14 pareth sulfosuccinates are reviewed under EU Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 as permitted surfactants in rinse-off products, with no specific annex restrictions. The short EO chain is a significant mildness advantage over higher-EO analogues.
Skin benefits
- Sulfate-free formulation option with excellent foaming performance
- C12-14 chain length provides balanced cleansing for most skin types
Known concerns
- Eye contact may cause mild transient stinging
- Very low EO does not fully eliminate concerns about alkyl chain sensitization
