About
Distillates (petroleum), Vacuum is a cosmetic ingredient. Exercise caution due to limited available safety data.
Vacuum gas oils and distillates are heavy petroleum fractions obtained under reduced pressure distillation. These complex hydrocarbon mixtures may contain polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) depending on the crude source and processing conditions. They are subject to EU restriction under REACH Annex XVII for PAH content, and cosmetic use is limited to highly refined grades with documented low PAH content. Unspecified vacuum distillates are not permitted in cosmetic products.
Known concerns
- Potential PAH contamination
- Complex undefined hydrocarbon mixture
- EU REACH PAH restriction
- Restricted to highly refined grades only
