About
A rich synthetic ester emollient used widely in colour cosmetics for cushion and pigment wetting.
Ethylhexyl hydroxystearoyl hydroxystearate is a branched-chain synthetic ester made by esterifying 12-hydroxystearic acid derivatives with 2-ethylhexanol. It is a high-molecular-weight, viscous oil used in lipsticks, foundations, and rich creams for its cushiony skin feel and excellent pigment-wetting performance. EU CosIng lists it for skin-conditioning and emollient functions. CIR has reviewed related hydroxystearate esters and found them safe as used in cosmetics. No GHS hazard classifications. Low irritation and sensitization in published testing.
