Ethylhexylbicycloheptene dicarboximide (also known as MGK-264 or 5-Norbornene-2,3-dicarboximide, N-(2-ethylhexyl)-8,8-dimethyl-3-oxabicyclo[3.2.1]octane-2,3-dicarboximide, CAS 113-48-4) is primarily used as a pesticide synergist (particularly with pyrethrins) in agricultural and professional pest control applications. Its GHS hazard profile includes H311 (toxic in contact with skin), H317 (may cause allergic skin reaction), H332 (harmful if inhaled), H411 (toxic to aquatic life), and H401 (hazardous to aquatic environment). This hazard profile is wholly incompatible with cosmetic product safety requirements. Under EU Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009, this agricultural chemical is not an approved cosmetic ingredient.
