About

A clove-bud hydrosol — naturally antimicrobial but eugenol-rich, which is a documented EU-labelled allergen. Use sparingly; not ideal for sensitive skin.

Eugenia caryophyllus (clove) bud water is the aqueous distillate of clove buds, carrying residual eugenol, eugenyl acetate, and beta-caryophyllene. Eugenol is an EU Regulation 1223/2009 Annex III-listed fragrance allergen with mandatory labelling above 0.001% in leave-on and 0.01% in rinse-off, and a documented contact sensitiser. Clove materials are strongly antimicrobial but are also a well-known cause of perioral and contact dermatitis, particularly at dental/mucosal use. No CIR restriction on the hydrosol specifically, but the class is handled cautiously.
