Fenfluramine is a serotonin-releasing agent and amphetamine derivative that was marketed as an appetite suppressant (weight-loss drug). It has no legitimate cosmetic application. The EU and FDA withdrew marketing authorization due to valvular heart disease and pulmonary arterial hypertension associated with its use. It is listed as a substance whose use in cosmetic products is prohibited under EU Cosmetics Regulation Annex II (banned substances list). As a CMR (Carcinogenic, Mutagenic, toxic for Reproduction) category substance, it cannot be used in cosmetics under any circumstances.
