An organotin compound that is a potent aquatic toxicant and has no place in any cosmetic formulation intended for human use.
Fentin hydroxide (triphenyltin hydroxide) is an organotin fungicide and biocide. Organotin compounds are among the most ecologically persistent chemicals in commerce, being toxic to aquatic organisms at very low concentrations and bioaccumulating in marine food chains. Fentin compounds are not authorized for cosmetic use under EU Regulation 1223/2009 and have no safety assessment from the SCCS for topical application.
