Ficus carica seed (fig seed) yields an oil rich in linoleic and oleic acids with minor phytosterols and tocopherols. Used in cosmetics for skin conditioning and emollience. EU CosIng lists it without restriction. Important distinction: fig sap/latex contains psoralens (furocoumarins) that are photosensitizing and phytodermatitis triggers; cleaned seed oil is essentially free of these and has a clean cosmetic tolerance record.
