Formocortal is a synthetic corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory glucocorticoid properties, used topically in Japan and other markets for dermatological conditions. Like other corticosteroids, it is classified as a prescription medicine and is not permitted in cosmetic products under EU Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 Annex II, which prohibits corticosteroids in cosmetic formulations.
