About
A C22 long-chain fatty lactone used as a smoothing, heat-protective hair conditioner. Mild and well tolerated with limited publicly available toxicology.
Gamma-docosalactone is a long-chain gamma-lactone (cyclic ester) derived from a C22 hydroxy fatty acid. It is used in hair care — particularly professional heat-style products — for its ability to deposit a smooth, low-friction film and improve thermal protection during hot tool use. Public toxicology and CIR review are limited. The lactone is generally stable at neutral pH but can ring-open under strongly alkaline conditions. No EU restrictions.
