A widely-used lactone with a peach-coconut scent, found naturally in many fruits and used extensively in both perfumery and flavours.
Gamma-Nonalactone is one of the most widely used lactone fragrances in cosmetics, imparting a characteristic peach, coconut and sometimes almond-like aroma. It is not EU restricted and has no significant safety warnings. Its long history of safe use in both food and cosmetic applications, combined with a favourable toxicology profile, makes it one of the safer fragrance materials in common use.
