About

A naturally occurring lactone with a creamy coconut-caraway odor, widely used as a flavor and fragrance with an excellent safety profile.

Gamma-octalactone is a naturally occurring lactone found in many fruits, dairy products, and essential oils including castoreum. FEMA GRAS listed and not restricted under EU cosmetics regulation. No SCCS concern has been raised. Used at low concentrations in both flavor and fragrance applications with no reported sensitization at normal use levels.
