About
Red-algae oligosaccharides from agar — a clean marine humectant with solid hydration performance and a tidy safety profile.
Gelidium amansii oligosaccharides are small galactose-rich sugars produced by enzymatic breakdown of agar from the red alga Gelidium amansii. They are used as humectants and skin-conditioning ingredients, binding water and supporting barrier comfort. The raw material has a long food-safety history (agar and agar-derived sugars are food-grade). No EU CosIng restriction applies. Molecular-weight distribution varies between suppliers, affecting humectancy and feel. Allergy to seaweed-derived ingredients is uncommon but possible in individuals sensitised to marine algae.
