GINSENOSIDE RG2
Safety score · 0–100
Fine
Derived from EU CosIng regulatory status, PubChem hazard data and published research. How we score.
A protopanaxadiol-type ginsenoside from Panax ginseng with anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptotic effects in skin cells.
Ginsenoside Rg2 (protopanaxadiol saponin) differs from Rg1 in sugar attachment and is slightly more hydrophobic. Like Rg1, it is non-genotoxic and has a long history of oral and topical use in traditional medicine. The H302 classification confirms low acute oral toxicity. EU cosmetics regulation does not specifically restrict ginsenosides; they are treated as botanical-derived cosmetic ingredients.
Skin benefits
- Anti-apoptotic protection of dermal fibroblasts
- Collagen synthesis stimulation
- Inhibition of UV-induced skin damage
Known concerns
- H302: low acute oral toxicity
