About

A cosmetic ingredient. Exercise caution due to limited available safety data.

Glass microfibers are synthetic vitreous fibers with diameters in the respirable range. Some glass microfiber compositions are classified as potential carcinogens (IARC Group 2B or 3) when inhaled, similar to other MMVFs. Cosmetic products containing respirable glass fibers are subject to EU restriction, and fibers with dimensions meeting certain criteria are prohibited to prevent respiratory exposure and inhalation hazard.

Known concerns

  • Respiratory hazard if inhaled
