About
Glycerophosphocholine is a cosmetic ingredient used in product formulations. Its specific function may vary between products. Exercise caution due to limited available safety data.
The glycerol ether of glycerophosphocholine (also called selachyl alcohol), a naturally occurring lysophospholipid found in human cell membranes and mother's milk. Functions as an exceptionally effective humectant and skin conditioning agent, reported to be more hygroscopic than glycerin. Used in premium anti-aging and barrier repair formulations. Not restricted in EU Regulation 1223/2009. The SCCS has reviewed glycerophospholipids as cosmetic ingredients and found no safety concerns at current use levels.
