About
A natural emulsifier and emollient made from olive-oil fatty acids and glycerin. Mild, skin-friendly, and biodegradable.
Glyceryl olivate is a partial glyceryl ester of olive-oil fatty acids (predominantly oleic acid). It functions as a non-ionic emulsifier and emollient, often paired with cetearyl alcohol (e.g. in the Olivem 1000 system) to form a self-emulsifying base with strong skin affinity. Considered safe in cosmetic use, with no CMR, endocrine, or GHS flags; biodegradable. Skin tolerance is excellent; irritation reports are rare. Rated moderate evidence given long use history but limited published clinical data.
