About

A film-forming plastic-type polymer that is less worrying than its starting monomers, but residual monomer and persistence concerns keep it in the caution range.

In finished cosmetics this ingredient is used as a high molecular weight film former, which reduces direct skin penetration compared with its starting monomers. Even so, glycidyl methacrylate and vinyl chloride chemistry carry much stronger toxicology baggage than the finished polymer, so residual monomer control and overall polymer persistence keep the score in the caution range.
