About
A hydrolyzed soy protein fraction containing short peptide sequences that condition and smooth the skin.
Glycine Soja Peptide is the di- and tri-peptide fraction isolated from hydrolyzed Glycine Soja (soybean) protein by ultrafiltration membrane technology. Hydrolyzed vegetable proteins and their peptide fractions have a long history of safe cosmetic use. Under EU Regulation 1223/2009, hydrolyzed proteins and peptides are permitted cosmetic ingredients. Allergen awareness applies to soy allergens in individuals with soy sensitivities, and the ingredient must be declared in the INCI list to allow informed consumer choice.
Skin benefits
- Humectant and skin-conditioning effect from peptide fraction
- May support skin barrier function
- Antioxidant properties attributed to soy isoflavones as trace impurities
Known concerns
- Soy allergen – must be declared for soy-sensitive individuals
- Very low molecular weight peptides have minimal allergenic potential compared to whole proteins
