About

Gold Salts is a cosmetic ingredient. Exercise caution due to limited available safety data.

Gold salts including gold chloride and sodium aurothiosulfate have been used historically in decorative cosmetics and dermatological preparations. EU Regulation 1223/2009 Annex III restricts the use of gold compounds in cosmetic products due to the risk of chrysiasis (skin discoloration), gold allergy, and potential for systemic absorption. Gold sensitization can cause contact dermatitis and systemic gold toxicity may affect the kidneys, liver, and hematopoietic system. The restrictions apply to all gold compounds used in cosmetic formulations.
