About
An igneous rock composed of quartz and feldspar used as a decorative mineral and gentle exfoliant in natural cosmetic formulations.
Granite is a coarse-grained igneous rock composed primarily of quartz (SiO2), feldspar (KAlSi3O8, NaAlSi3O8), and mica. It is not restricted under EU Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009. Granite particles are used in natural and mineral cosmetics as a decorative element and mild physical exfoliant. The primary safety concern is potential respirable crystalline silica (quartz) content, which is regulated in workplace and cosmetic contexts. Cosmetic-grade granite is selected to minimize fine respirable particles. Generally considered safe for topical cosmetic use.
