About
Ground jiaogulan — the "herb of immortality" in Chinese medicine — rich in ginseng-like saponins with antioxidant action.
Gynostemma Pentaphyllum Powder is the dried aerial parts of jiaogulan, a vine in the cucumber family long used in Chinese medicine. Its major actives are gypenosides — dammarane-type saponins closely related to ginsenosides — plus flavonoids and polysaccharides. Cosmetic use positions it as an antioxidant, skin-conditioning, and anti-inflammatory agent. It has a long oral safety record as a traditional tea and adaptogen, and EU CosIng lists it as a skin-conditioning agent. Formal cosmetic toxicology is limited; as with other saponin-bearing botanicals, concentration matters — high % can sting mucosa. No carcinogenicity or sensitization signals at cosmetic exposure.
