About

A tricyclic unsaturated sesquiterpene alcohol with a methyleneidene group, used in perfumery for its woody, ambery, and slightly sweet character.

Hexahydro-methanoindene-5-ylidene-2-butanol is a complex tricyclic sesquiterpene-type alcohol with an exocyclic methyleneidene group. No CLP hazard classifications apply. It is not listed in EU cosmetic regulation Annexes. The bridged tricyclic structure (methanoindane-type) is typical of certain amber and woody fragrance materials. The methyleneidene group could theoretically contribute to sensitization, but no formal hazard statement exists. Used within IFRA limits.
