HEXAMETHYLENEDIAMMONIUM DIMALEATE
Safety score · 0–100
Moderate
Derived from EU CosIng regulatory status, PubChem hazard data and published research. How we score.
A diamine salt that can release hexamethylenediamine with moderate irritation potential requiring careful formulation.
Hexamethylenediammonium dimaleate is a salt of hexamethylenediamine (HMD, 1,6-diaminohexane) with maleic acid. HMD is used in polymer synthesis (nylon-6,6) and can be released from the salt under certain conditions. While the parent diamine has higher toxicity, the salt form has reduced volatility and reactivity. Maleic acid is a skin sensitizer. No specific EU Annex restrictions apply to this salt form.
Skin benefits
