About
Dehydrated honey — a gentle humectant and skin-conditioning powder. Safe for most but a real allergen for bee/propolis-sensitive users.
Honey powder is dehydrated honey, typically spray-dried with a carrier such as maltodextrin. It brings natural sugars (fructose, glucose), gluconic acid, trace enzymes (glucose oxidase), and pollen/propolis residues. In cosmetics it acts as a humectant, skin-conditioning agent, and — in scrub formats — a mild exfoliant. CIR has reviewed honey and honey-derived ingredients as safe as used in cosmetics. No EU restriction applies. The main concern is allergenicity for bee-product-sensitive users (propolis in particular is a known contact sensitiser). Composition varies by source.
