About
A gentle botanical water from orris root — soothes skin and adds a delicate floral scent to formulations.
Iris Florentina Root Water is the aqueous distillate from the roots of Iris x germanica (formerly Iris florentina), a sterile hybrid of the German iris. The steam distillation process extracts water-soluble volatile compounds including irones (which give the characteristic violet-like orris note), flavonoids, and polysaccharides. It is used in cosmetic formulations as a fragrance component and skin-conditioning agent. The extract is generally well-tolerated; iris root derivatives are among the more refined botanical ingredients used in perfumery. Allergic reactions are rare but possible with any natural botanical extract.
