A bornyl acetate isomer (from camphor tree chemistry) used as a fragrance ingredient with a fresh, piney, balsamic scent — no EU restrictions at cosmetic levels.
Isobornyl Acetate (or isobornyl acetate, bornyl acetate isomer) is a bridged bicyclic monoterpene acetate with a fresh, piney, balsamic-woody odor. Found in essential oils including rosemary and camphor. Reviewed by IFRA with no specific restrictions at cosmetic use levels. The norbornane bicyclic structure is metabolically stable and not a significant skin sensitiser. Occurs in nature in many edible plants, indicating a clean metabolic pathway. At levels up to 10% in finished products, no safety concerns have been identified.
