About

An ethoxylated ester of branched C16 alcohols and stearic acid — works as a waxy emulsifier that gives body and structure to emulsions while providing some skin-conditioning benefits.

Isoceteth-10 Stearate is the octadecanoate (stearate) ester of Isoceteth-10 (a branched C16 alcohol ethoxylated with ~10 moles EO). The combination of ethoxylation and esterification gives this ingredient both emulsifying and emollient properties. The branched isocetyl alcohol base (derived from isotearic acid) is known for its excellent skin feel and reduced crystallization tendency compared to linear-chain alternatives. As an ethoxylated ingredient, it carries standard concerns for residual ethylene oxide and 1,4-dioxane. It is CosIng-listed and not restricted in EU Annexes.

Skin benefits

  • Branched-chain base alcohol contributes to smooth skin feel
  • Emulsifying — stabilizes oil-in-water emulsions

Known concerns

  • Ethylene oxide and 1,4-dioxane trace contamination concerns
  • Potential for sensitization at high concentrations
