About
A lipophilic imidazolinium-based conditioning agent derived from isostearyl alcohol that provides excellent skin feel and emolliency with low irritation potential.
Isostearyl Benzylimidonium Chloride is a cationic imidazolinium salt with an isostearyl hydrophobic tail, functioning as an antistatic agent, skin conditioning agent, and emulsifier in cosmetic formulations. The isostearyl (branched C18) chain provides superior emolliency and skin feel compared to linear fatty chains, while the imidazolinium headgroup offers milder cationic conditioning than quaternary ammonium salts. This substance is not listed in EU restriction annexes. The branched-chain structure reduces the crystallization tendency common to linear surfactants, improving formulation aesthetics. The compound shows low acute toxicity and no skin sensitization in standard assays at typical use concentrations.
Skin benefits
- Excellent emollient providing soft skin feel
- Antistatic conditioning for hair and skin
- Emulsifying properties improve product stability
