About
White lupin protein — a plant-based protein used for conditioning and film-forming on skin and hair. Note: lupin is a declared food allergen.
Lupinus albus (white lupin) protein is extracted from the seeds of the legume and supplied as a hydrolyzed or native protein. In cosmetics it provides film-forming, conditioning, and mild tensor effects on skin and hair. EU CosIng lists the ingredient without specific restriction; however, lupin is listed under EU food allergen labeling (Annex II of Regulation 1169/2011), and cross-reactivity with peanut allergy is documented. While dermal allergy is less common than dietary, formulators should consider sensitized consumers, especially in leave-on products.
