About
Mabuterol is a cosmetic ingredient used in product formulations. Exercise caution due to limited available safety data.
Mabuterol is a phenylurea derivative with selective beta-2 adrenergic activity, used as a bronchodilator. Like other beta-agonist drugs, it is regulated as a medicinal product rather than a cosmetic ingredient. EU Regulation 1223/2009 does not include beta-agonists in the list of approved cosmetic substances. Cardiovascular and neurological effects are documented.
Known concerns
- EU regulated as medicinal substance, not cosmetics
- Beta-2 agonist — cardiovascular side effects
- Not listed in EU cosmetics annexes
- May have tremor and anxiety side effects
