About

Finely ground marble (calcium carbonate) used as a natural mineral filler and abrasive in cosmetics, with an excellent safety profile.

Marble Powder consists chiefly of calcium carbonate (CaCO3), the same compound as limestone, chalk, and eggshells. It is widely used in cosmetic formulations as a natural mineral filler in color cosmetics (foundations, powders), a gentle abrasive in facial scrubs, and a viscosity-controlling agent. Calcium carbonate has a long history of safe use in both foods and cosmetics. The EU Cosmetics Regulation does not restrict calcium carbonate, and it is considered one of the safest cosmetic ingredients available.

Skin benefits

  • Gentle natural abrasive for exfoliation
  • Oil-absorbing mineral filler
  • Improves product texture and opacity

Known concerns

  • Generally recognized as completely safe
