About
Peppermint leaf juice — gives a refreshing, cooling tingle and has antibacterial properties, but the menthol content can irritate sensitive or reactive skin.
Mentha Piperita Leaf Juice is the juice expressed from peppermint leaves (Mentha piperita L., Lamiaceae). It contains menthol, menthone, and other monoterpenes responsible for its cooling sensation and antimicrobial activity. While lower in concentration than essential oil, the juice still contains bioactive terpenes that can activate TRPM8 cold receptors and cause sensory irritation. The CIR Expert Panel reviewed Mentha piperita-derived ingredients and found them safe with concentration limits — noting potential for skin sensitisation, especially in individuals with fragrance allergies.
