About
Methyl Butyrate is a cosmetic ingredient used in product formulations. Exercise caution due to limited available safety data.
Methyl butyrate is a short-chain fatty acid ester with a characteristic fruity odor reminiscent of pineapple and apple. It is used in both cosmetic fragrances and food flavorings, and is not subject to any EU cosmetic restrictions. It has low acute toxicity and is rapidly metabolised via normal fatty acid metabolic pathways. It is considered safe for use at current cosmetic concentrations and is not a known sensitiser.
