About
An industrial molybdenum salt, not a standard cosmetic ingredient — corrosive in its common forms and without cosmetic safety dossiers.
Molybdenum Chloride (CAS 11119-46-3 corresponds to the commercially listed form) refers to chlorides of molybdenum such as MoCl2, MoCl3, MoCl4, or MoCl5. The higher chlorides (MoCl5) are volatile, moisture-reactive, and violently hydrolyze to hydrochloric acid; lower chlorides are also industrial reagents. None of these are standard cosmetic ingredients: EU CosIng does not list molybdenum chloride as a cosmetic raw material, and there are no CIR reviews supporting cosmetic use. Molybdenum is a trace dietary element, but the chloride forms are inappropriate raw materials for topical formulation. Scored red as a database hygiene flag rather than an assessment of a safe cosmetic use.
