About
A sedimentary rock powder composed mainly of clay and silt that acts as a bulking agent and absorbent in cosmetic formulations.
Mudstone is a fine-grained sedimentary rock composed primarily of clay minerals and silt-sized particles. It is not restricted in EU Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009. Cosmetic use of mudstone powder is relatively limited compared to other clays, but it provides similar oil-absorption and texture-modifying properties. The mineral composition varies by geological source. Natural mudstone formations may contain trace metals that are generally considered safe at cosmetic use levels.
